The Midday Meal Scheme mobile application, developed by Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency, aims to manage and monitor the midday meal scheme for government school students in Tamil Nadu, India. This app allows for the timely management of the cooking process, from pre-cooking activities to serving the meals, through real-time monitoring and data entry into a centralized database.
The scheme provides hot cooked nutritious meals to primary school children (ages 5-9) and upper primary school children (agesfor five days a week, totaling 220 days a year. Additionally, children enrolled in National Child Labour Project Special Schools in Vellore district receive meals for 312 days a year.
The app helps track the cooking process by allowing users to photograph and timestamp raw materials, cooking activities, and the final cooked food. Attendance is marked through integration with the Education Management Information System (EMIS), and a group photograph of the students availing the meal is taken with a timestamp.
All the data collected is stored in a database and monitored through a Management Information System (MIS) dashboard for easy access and analysis. This app ensures the efficient management and monitoring of the Midday Meal Scheme, benefiting thousands of government school students in Tamil Nadu.
